New Investment Limited Partnership Law in Middle East

The new law makes Bahrain the first country in the GCC region to have introduced national legislation enabling for the formation of limited partnerships in a manner comparable to structures utilised in reputable off-shore fund domiciles.

Supreme Court decision reminds employers of their obligations not to discriminate

The Supreme Court has held in the conjoined cases of Home Office (UK Border Agency) v Essop and others and Naeem v the Secretary of State for Justice that in order to make a valid claim for indirect discrimination the victim of the discrimination will have to show that a requirement has been imposed on them, that they have a protected characteristic and that they (and those who share the protected characteristic) suffer the effect of the disadvantage when compared to others.  Previously the Court of Appeal had suggested that if the reason for the requirement wasn't discriminatory then there could be no indirect discrimination.  According to the Supreme Court this is not the case.

Trowers & Hamlins advises Rasmala on £45m warehouse deal

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins is pleased to have advised London-listed investment management group, Rasmala and KAMCO of Kuwait on the acquisition of Amazon's largest UK distribution warehouse, located in Dunfermline, Fife. The £54m deal marks Rasmala's fourth UK commercial property deal in less than 18 months and is the biggest of its deals so far.
