How can we help you?

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has been highlighted on the 2020 edition of the UK Legal Monitor Gender Index for gender diversity.

The index recognised Trowers as 'one of only four firms to have over 40% women partners in a London office' and ranked 'five in the top 10 UK firms by percentage of women partners across, regional offices'.

Trowers is renowned for having a diverse and inclusive culture and has always promoted women's rights throughout the firm. Across the leadership team there are numerous heads of offices fronted by women and from the firm's recent partner promotions, six out of the ten promotions were women.

Partner and chair of the gender, work and family network Rebecca Wardle commented:

"Women have played an integral role throughout the course of Trowers' history and I am proud that we are still at the forefront of gender diversity in the legal sector to this day. Our recent partner promotions highlight the inclusive nature of the firm and show that we remove barriers that may have prevented women from progressing in their careers in the past. Hopefully the successful women of Trowers can inspire future generations to thrive and succeed in the legal profession."

Some of the newly promoted partners also commented on what it means to be a woman progressing in their career in law.

Dwynwen Lewis from the real estate team in London:

"I am fortunate to have been directly inspired at Trowers: we have a female senior partner; a female managing partner; and a female Director of Operations. Many of those balance children and family life with successful legal careers and from day one that really motivated me. I was promoted to the partnership this year whilst being eight months' pregnant with my second child. Having diversity at the top end of law firms is essential for inspiring our next generation and I am passionate about using my platform as a woman in law to help inspire future women solicitors."

Partner Helen Fysh from the banking & finance team in London:

"Women are given equal opportunities at Trowers & Hamlins in my experience. I have a great sense of accomplishment in having found my personal equilibrium between career and family, which is something that Trowers actively encourages. Every woman will differ in her approach to where that balance lies and which compromises to make, or which opportunities to take along the way."
