Top 40 law firm Trowers & Hamlins has advised leading care home investor Octopus Real Estate on a £100m acquisition and funding deal with the Hamberley Group.

The deal involves Octopus acquiring six corporate wrapped Hamberley facilities in a move that will see Octopus enter the specialist care market for the first time. The facilities are for residents with complex care requirements and include a state-of-the-art Inspire Neurocare neurological rehabilitation centre in Worcester.

Trowers advised Octopus on the corporate acquisition as well as the forward funding arrangements for the construction of three new Inspire Neurocare sites in Southampton, Camberley and Basingstoke. The deal will add much needed capacity to the UK’s complex care market.

Adrian Jones, Corporate Partner at Trowers & Hamlins, commented:

"We are pleased to have helped Octopus Real Estate complete this landmark deal in an incredibly short time period. The decision to move into the specialist care market presents Octopus with considerable growth opportunities within the sector."

Max Weitzmann, Senior Investment Manager at Octopus commented:

"We are delighted to have concluded this deal with the Hamberley Group and look forward to working with them as developers and operators of these homes. The whole Trowers team, including their corporate, property, construction, banking and tax teams did a great job to get this over the line to an ambitious timetable."
