Webinar: Building safety – It's all about the people: Design and Construction phase
In Dame Judith Hackitt's Building a Safer Future report published in 2018, a more rigorous approach to accountability is recommended which places a much greater responsibility on those responsible for design, construction, management, maintenance, and occupation of buildings within the scope of the legislation to demonstrate how they are managing fire and structural safety risks to their buildings. This has been reflected in the draft Building Safety Bill and detailed in the "Setting the Bar" report published by the Construction Industry Council.
Our next webinar series aims to explore each of the duty-holders and involved persons recommended in the new regime with key and sector-leading external speakers, looking at the roles and responsibilities, challenges and the importance of each duty-holder and involved persons.
This webinar looked at the design and construction phase in particular – exploring the role and responsibilities of building control, the client, the Principal Contractor and the Principal Designer.
