International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has signed a memorandum of understanding with Oman-based tech start-up incubator Madaar. The agreement will see Trowers provide essential legal know-how and content across a broad range of legal issues through workshops, mentorship and consultation sessions that Madaar conducts to help support its start-up community.
Founded in 2020, Madaar helps MENA-based entrepreneurs develop through its network of start-ups, capacity building and entrepreneurial programs, and investors to connect people and maximise opportunities for growth, funding, and collaboration. Madaar has so far helped over 400 start-ups in the MENA region develop, grow, and scale their businesses.
The organisation is founded on the objective of helping start-ups de-risk their business and achieve 10x scalability, and is the first recipient of the Virtual Accelerator license in Oman.
Under the terms of the agreement, Trowers & Hamlins will be providing one-on-one consultation sessions and templates of agreements, and hosting workshops for Madaar's community of start-ups.
Commenting on the agreement, Trowers & Hamlins' Senior Associate Raya Al Harthy said, "I am delighted to have reached an agreement with Madaar for Trowers to provide this essential legal learning to their entrepreneurs. Start-ups often lack access to first-class legal advice and support, and to be providing that to the brightest and best MENA entrepreneurs will be both a pleasure and an honour."
Murooj Al Saadi, founder and CEO of Madaar added, "Trowers and Hamlins is a well-established and respected firm in the MENA region. To have access to their brilliant legal understanding and experience will be invaluable to our entrepreneurs. It will certainly give them a huge boost as they strive to grow their innovative businesses. Our vision is to provide MENA-based entrepreneurs with the tools they need to build scalable tech start-ups and businesses – Trowers' input will definitely help us achieve that aim. I look forward to collaborating with Trowers and watching as it impacts positively on the many businesses that we are helping to nurture."
