International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has advised the shareholders of Hawkridge Farmhouse Cheese Limited (Hawkridge) on the sale of the entire issued share capital to Ambrosi (UK) Limited.
Italian cheesemaker, Ambrosi, was itself bought by the French dairy group Lactalis in July 2022. The acquisition of Hawkridge by Ambrosi marks a further step in the implementation of its strategic growth plans.
Hawkridge has been based in the heart of the Devonshire countryside since 1976. The company has grown into a leading independent dairy produce wholesaler in the south-west of England, offering an extensive range of quality products to delicatessens, farm shops, specialist retail outlets, as well as hotels, restaurants, pubs and the wider catering industry.
Corporate Partner, Stuart Mathews, led the Trowers team, comprising lawyers from multiple specialisms including Corporate (Jon Holloway and Luke Cummings), Real Estate (Kelly Brown), and Employment (Tom Stephenson). The deal completed with professional advice and support from Sunny Truran, Lee Cramer and Alexander Winter of Bush & Co Limited.
