Trowers & Hamlins has advised registered housing provider, Paradigm Housing Group, on a new £250m sustainability bond. The bond has been raised to support Paradigm's ambition to invest in good quality, safe and energy efficient homes in the south-east of England.
Paradigm, a not-for-profit registered provider of social housing, is one of the leading providers of affordable housing in Southeast England, managing nearly 17,000 homes.
The funding marks a return to the capital markets following the housing association's debut in 2021. The bond aligns with the housing association’s Sustainability Finance Framework, which embeds environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into its strategy.
Trowers advised Paradigm on all aspects of the issue. The team was led by Partner Natalie Singh with assistance from Anna Beckett (Senior Associate), Ashley Slatford (Associate) and Emilia Smart (Trainee Solicitor).
Natalie commented:
"We are delighted to have supported Paradigm Housing on this strategically important bond issuance. It will allow Paradigm to keep investing in safe and energy efficient affordable homes in the South East at a time when the need for such housing has never been more acute. It was a pleasure to work with Paradigm and the team."
Nicola Ewen, Chief Financial Officer at Paradigm Housing, added:
"We are pleased to have returned to the capital markets with our second bond. We worked with Trowers as our legal advisers and would like to thank Natalie, Anna and the whole team for providing an excellent service to Paradigm. There is a huge amount of hard work that goes into preparing for a launch and we achieved this, with their support, in a relatively short space of time."
