Trowers & Hamlins has acted on behalf of Grand Union Housing Group (GUHG), the Buckinghamshire based housing organisation, on its acquisition of 139 tenanted units from Clarion Housing Group, the UK's largest housing association.
Grand Union already managed the 139 units, pursuant to a management agreement, and will continue to deliver services to the tenants of the properties.
In business for almost 30 years, Grand Union provides nearly 13,000 homes for more than 29,000 people across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire. The acquisition of the Clarion units significantly bolsters the Group's affordable stock portfolio.
Clarion Housing Group is the largest housing association in the United Kingdom with 125,000 properties across more than 170 local authorities, providing homes to over 350,000 people. Clarion was formed in 2016 as a merger of Affinity Sutton and Circle Housing Group
The team at Trowers & Hamlins was led by Real Estate Partner, Digby Morgan, alongside fellow Real Estate Partner, Hannah Jackson. They were assisted by Senior Associate Rachel Ford.
Digby Morgan commented:
"It has been a pleasure to work on this strategic stock acquisition for Grand Union. This move not only increases their affordable housing portfolio but also allows them to invest further in both existing and future homes. We wish Grand Union well with the new units and look forward to working with them again soon.”
Ross Curtis, Development Project Manager at Grand Union Housing Group, added:
"I would like to take this time to say how happy we are with how this process has gone and how impressed we all where at GUHG with Trowers during this deal. A massive thank you to you all – especially Digby, Rachel and Hannah for your great work on this one."
