Impact of Budget 2024 on non-UK resident individuals investing in UK property04 November 2024

We provide clear and concise structuring advice to investors and work closely with our real estate, corporate and finance colleagues to ensure a seamless delivery of the structure.
The tax map for investing into UK real estate has become much more complex in recent years with a slew of changes to SDLT, non-resident capital gains tax, corporation tax for offshore companies, inheritance tax on residential property as well as an entirely new tax in the form of the annual tax on enveloped dwellings. Some investors need to structure the investment in a Shari'ah compliant manner and we have devised bespoke structures for various clients.
We have worked with clients investing into all types of property asset classes including offices, leisure, logistics, industrial, warehouses, retail, mixed use, hotels, infrastructure, student accommodation, retirement villages and build-to-rent properties. The UK is still seen as an attractive and stable place to invest although the speed of change has meant that investment structures are evolving rapidly.
New asset classes are also emerging such as build-to-rent which is now formally recognised in planning guidance and seen as a key part of the solution to the housing crisis. We have many years of experience in advising the private rented sector and can plot a course for clients investing in this exciting asset class.
