Summer vacation schemes

Our summer vacation schemes are a good way of finding out what life really is like as a trainee at our firm.

We offer 46 places across our London, Birmingham, Exeter and Manchester offices each year. During your time with us, you will be involved in real work - drafting, undertaking research, attending meetings and interacting with a range of people across the firm. You will be teamed with a trainee mentor who will introduce you to each department and be on hand to offer you all the guidance you need. And you will be allocated a supervisor to offer you advice on the work that you will undertake.

We pay every candidate attending our summer vacation schemes. This is currently £300 per week in London and £250 per week in Birmingham, Exeter and Manchester.

The application process for our summer vacation schemes in 2022 will open in early October. To apply, you will need to complete an online application form and successful candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day. Please note that we do not consider any other form of submission (i.e. CV and covering letter) other than our online form.

We assess all summer vacation students for a training contract during their time with us.

Insight events

We hold open days and coffee mornings in our UK offices to give you an insight into life as a trainee, our practice areas and clients, and to develop your application skills. We will be holding events in-person and virtually this year:

• London Open Day (in-person): Tuesday 23 November 2021
• London Open Day (virtual): Tuesday 7 December 2021
• Birmingham Coffee Morning: Wednesday 12 January 2022
• Exeter Coffee Morning: Friday 7 January 2022
• Manchester Coffee Morning: Tuesday 11 January 2022

At the London open days, you will attend presentations on topics ranging from application form tips to life as a trainee at the firm and will have the chance to network with members from these offices.

Applications for this year's open days are open now and you will need to complete an online application form to apply.

At the coffee mornings, you will attend talks by the graduate recruitment team and partners. There will be a Q&A and a networking session afterward. Applications will also open in October and you will need to apply by sending a copy of your CV to graduates@trowers.com.

Law fairs and events

BIUCAC trainee panel (virtual)

• Date and time: Monday 18 October between 7pm – 8.15pm
• This event will consist of two of our current trainees, who attended non-Russell group universities, answering questions regarding their training contracts and the application process.

Aspiring Solicitors Culture Event (virtual)

• Date and time: Tuesday 19 October
• Yetunde Dania, Partner and Head of our Birmingham Office, will join this panel session and you will have the chance to network afterwards.

Aspiring Solicitors Law Fair (virtual)

• Date and time: Monday 25 October
• An opportunity for you to network with trainees and graduate recruitment to find out more about the firm and the application process. More information and application information can be found here.

Aspiring Solicitors Open Day

• Date and time: Wednesday 27 October
• This event is open to Aspiring Solicitors members and will give you the opportunity to find out more about the firm, network and build your skills.

University of Exeter Law Fair (virtual)

• Date and time: Wednesday 10 November between 11.30 – 3.30pm
• A virtual law fair for all University of Exeter students and graduates. You can sign up here.

LawCareersNetLive (virtual)

• Date and time: Friday 3 December between 9.15am – 4.30pm
• A virtual conference to find out more about being a solicitor at a London law firm. You can apply here.

Coffee Mornings

We are holding virtual coffee mornings in our Exeter, Birmingham and Manchester offices. The mornings will involve talks by the graduate recruitment team and partners. There will be a Q&A and a networking session afterward. To apply, please email a copy of your CV to graduates@trowers.com.
