How can we help you?

Join us in our Exeter offices on the morning of 20th February for an update on the latest real estate, planning and litigation developments.

In this upcoming instalment of our seminar series, we will be focusing on the challenges related to accessing energy networks on development sites. Our discussion will cover both energy use and energy generation schemes.

Our speakers:

Edward Martin, Amberside Energy. Edward is Senior Land Manager at Amberside, developing utility-scale energy projects. Amberside are backed by the world’s largest dedicated fund manager within greenfield renewable energy investments. They have developed high-accuracy software, helping to understand where new energy projects could connect to the electrical grid. Their development work is based on partnerships with landowners for the long-term, beyond planning and switch on. Edward will be talking to us about the potential pitfalls, land analysis, town planning, and accessing the grid.

Josh Partridge, Trowers & Hamlins. Josh is a Partner in the Projects and Construction department specialising in the energy sector with a particular focus on renewable and low carbon generation. He will be talking on the following points:

  • Current cost/timeframes for obtaining a demand or generation grid connection.
  • What is being done by government and grid companies to address issues with obtaining a grid connection.
  • What practical measures can be taken to mitigate connection constraints.

Rory Stracey, Trowers & Hamlins. Rory is a Partner in our Planning team in Exeter. With a keen eye on the impacts of government policy, Rory will be updating us on the long awaited and much discussed Biodiversity Net Gain planning policies – which are coming into force in the coming weeks.
