Local Government Matters - March 2022

With views remaining divided on the scope, feasibility and emerging substance of the Levelling Up agenda, there are growing signs Government is taking steps to implement it with the recent publication of the Levelling Up Director roles (the specification for which has itself been subject to some scrutiny).

In March’s bumper edition of our Local Government Matters newsletter we set out our deep dives into the Levelling Up white paper’s themes, ranging from local government and net zero to regeneration and social value.

The feedback to our Local Government Reform guide has been exceptional as we see more councils engage with the reorganisation. We hope it provides some useful guidance to those councils on that journey.

Also in this month’s edition we launch our Subsidy Control Bitesize series, starting with the new role of the CMA (further bitesize videos to follow) and thoughts on the recent the push on the public sector to end contracts with Gazprom given the war in Ukraine.
