Simon Gibb
Simon is a Partner in the London Private Wealth team of Trowers & Hamlins. His practice includes provides tax advice to UK and non-UK resident and domiciled individuals.
He also advise on international trust and estate planning, including on the protection and devolution of trust assets. Whilst Simon advises on all aspects of personal taxation and structuring, his practice has an emphasis on advising individuals, family offices and trustees on tax, trust, disclosure regimes and related issues concerning the structuring of family businesses.
Simon's experience includes:
- Advising trustees and beneficiaries of non-UK trusts on tax and administration issues; restructuring exiting family trusts to address generational change; and the resolution of disputes between trustees and beneficiaries
- Advising individuals on UK residence and domicile planning, on pre-immigration UK tax planning and on UK tax and succession planning, with regular experience with US citizens
- Advising on and establishing, funding and restructuring of private trust company structures, including advising on the choice of jurisdiction and drafting trust instruments and funding documentation
- Advising as part of a multi-jurisdictional team representing a high-net-worth individual during a revenue authority audit
- Advising on HMRC inquiries into offshore trust structures
- Involved in the preparation of an expert report on trust law for submission to a non-common law jurisdiction’s courts in the context of a trust dispute
