Natural resources

We act for governments and government-owned entities, developers, lenders, EPC and O&M contractors and service companies.  We have the necessary expertise in mining, construction and corporate law required to efficiently deliver successful projects in this sector. We have particular expertise in advising junior mining companies both in relation to listings on AIM and other exchanges and on the associated project agreements.

We advise on legal issues relating to exploration licenses, the securing of feedstock and utilities and customer off-take agreements. We also act on the development of infrastructure required to support industrial and mining schemes, such as power and water facilities and ports.

Our work also includes advising on the environmental and free zone laws which may be relevant to the establishment of mining and industrial projects, and we offer additional expertise in construction and project finance law.  Our finance expertise includes advising in relation to conventional, Islamic and project financed structures.

Our work often involves the development and negotiation of long-term concession agreements. We are experienced in negotiating concessions and licenses in various jurisdictions. Working closely with our finance team, we also provide advice for clients who are structuring or negotiating corporate finance, project finance and strategic investment opportunities to support their interests in the natural resources sector.
