International law firm Trowers & Hamlins is supporting Philip Churchill, Founder and Managing Partner of real estate investment manager, 90 North, on his 'Vantage World Tour', in support of suicide prevention charity Campaign against Living Miserably (CALM).
Sadly 125 lives are lost every week to suicide. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by provoking conversation, running life-saving services, and bringing people together so they reject living miserably, get help when they need it and don’t die by suicide. That means standing against feeling crap, standing up to stereotypes and standing together to show life is always worth living.
Embarking on the challenge of a lifetime, father and son team Philip and William Churchill will be driving 24,901 miles around the world in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage in their Vantage World Tour, which will see them cross 35 countries. The challenge aims to raise at least £24,901 (£1 for every mile of the Earth’s equator) for CALM’s lifesaving services, who in 2022 had over 3 million minutes of potentially lifesaving calls via their helpline and webchat services.
Having departed from the Royal Automobile Club in London on 26 February, the first stage of the journey will see Philip and Will travel from Pall Mall to Panama via New York and Mexico, culminating at the Panama Canal 10,800 miles later.
The team are also committed to ensuring that every mile behind the wheel will be offset with Net-Hero. The drivers have bought carbon credits, with each credit representing 1 ton of carbon dioxide captured from the atmosphere and stored permanently, thereby neutralising the V8 Vantage’s carbon footprint.
Philip, Managing Partner at real estate investment manager, 90 North, commented:
"A passion for cars is predominantly a male pastime, but men also account for 75% of all suicides in the UK. CALM is working to prevent suicides, the largest killer of men under 45 in the U.K., and so the Vantage World Tour will be raising money to support their work.
"For many, including ourselves, the car scene provides a distraction from the stresses of everyday life, as well as the chance to meet new people, make new friends and be there for each other. We want as many people as possible to feel part of our adventure.
"We would like to thank Trowers & Hamlins for being a part of our journey and contributing towards our mission to fight suicide."
William Clements, Real Estate Partner at Trowers & Hamlins, added:
"We have a longstanding relationship with 90 North, so we are thrilled to be able to support Philip and his son on their journey to raise money for CALM. The charity provides crucial support for those in need and helps bring people together to tackle harmful stereotypes."
Simon Gunning, CEO at CALM said:
"We're honoured that Philip and William have taken on a challenge of a lifetime to support CALM. The lengths our supporters go to in order to raise funds and awareness for our cause is staggering, and enables us to continue to be there for whoever is struggling. We wish Philip and William the best of luck with their monumental challenge.”
