Trowers & Hamlins has hired two new partners across its Tax practice and its Commercial practice. Both partners will be based in the firm's London office.
Alex Barnes, formerly Head of Tax at BDB Pitmans, advises on corporate tax matters and real estate tax matters. He has advised on a wide range of corporate transactions mainly for SME clients. From a real estate perspective, he has advised on transactions and related structures including commercial property developments, investment portfolio acquisitions and disposals by UK and non-UK investors, tax issues for occupiers and regeneration projects and joint ventures. He joins the highly-respected Trowers Tax team, which is led by Andrew Sneddon and covers tax issues arising across a broad remit of specialist areas including the private sector, charities and the public sector, finance, private equity, personal and real estate.
Simon Edwards joins Trowers from RPC, where he was a Partner in the Commercial team. Over the past 20 years, Simon has advised household names across various sectors on a wide range of commercial contracts, including large outsourcing agreements, sale of goods and services agreements and distribution, agency and franchising arrangements. More recently, his focus has been on the retail and consumer sectors which has seen him provide strategic advice to numerous household name restaurants and high street retailers, as well as one of the world's largest beverage companies. Simon joins Trowers Commercial team as it continues to focus on the strategic growth of its national commercial practice.
