Megan Coulton
Megan is a Senior Associate in the Energy and Sustainability department. She is a specialist energy lawyer who advises private and public sector clients on a range of energy and infrastructure projects including district heating/cooling, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, renewables, utilities connections, energy efficiency works, and on wider sustainability matters.
Megan specialises in structuring and negotiating heat network projects for the firm's developer clients. Megan is also experienced in advising on connection arrangements relating to existing heat networks, including connecting to the heat networks at the Olympic Park, ExCeL Exhibition Centre, Lee Valley and Monkerton.
Megan advises on a range of renewable energy projects and energy efficiency works (including for the firm's local authority, NHS Trusts and investor client base). This includes drafting and negotiating power purchase arrangements, energy performance contracts, operation and maintenance agreements, outsourced services arrangements, feedstock/off take agreements and domestic/commercial energy supply agreements. She also advises on connected regulatory issues relating to energy generation, supply, distribution and transmission, and works closely with planning and property teams on energy related leases, easements and connections.
Megan also leads the firm's roll out of The Chancery Lane Project drafting as part of the firm's Responsible Business strategy, helping clients to embed climate related principles in transactions.
