Autumn Budget 2024: Energy Sector Announcements04 November 2024
By Chris Paul and Rhianna Wilsher
Renewable energy has become a more important part of the energy mix, and its share is likely to increase in the future. Alongside renewable energy, there is an increased focus on energy storage – from the domestic scale right up to grid storage.
Our energy team advises on a range of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and biomass and associated storage initiatives. In the UK market we have an established track record in advising landlords, local authorities, developers and funders on domestic rooftop solar PV (with close links with our real estate practice). We also advise on large scale commercial PV, onshore wind, biomass installations and heat pump projects. Many of these projects include advice on utilities connections, Power Purchase Arrangements and connected regulatory issues. As part of our wide renewable energy practice, we also advise on electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and contract arrangements.
Alongside our established UK experience, we also advise on renewable energy projects in the international market, including advice on pioneering solar PV projects in the Middle East region. Many of our projects are first in country transactions. Our track record in delivering complex projects into new markets means we are well placed to work in new jurisdictions and deliver innovative and first time projects to challenging markets.
We act for landlords, developers. project companies and funders on a range of pilot projects, self-funded installations and large-scale financed deals. We have advised on all aspects of these transactions, including procurement, risk analysis, property consents, planning, construction and operation arrangements, governance and tax. In addition to our experience around the development, construction and operation of these projects, we are also familiar with the connected financing arrangements.
