Matt Painter


Matt is an Associate in the Construction Disputes department and is based in Trowers & Hamlins' London office.

Matt has over 10 years' litigation experience, with more than 4 years in the construction sector, having joined Trowers & Hamlins from a leading regional practice in Leeds in November 2021.

Matt has wide experience advising a variety of clients on contentious construction matters arising from major projects including commercial and residential developments. These matters often involve disputes concerning delay and disruption, variations, defects and termination and invariably entail advising on all forms of dispute resolution, including litigation, adjudication, arbitration and mediation. Matt has particular experience in dealing with defects claims, including fire safety and cladding defects.

Matt acts for a broad range of clients, including local authorities, large scale multinational developers / employers and main contractors. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, worked as a Paralegal in an international law firm representing insurer clients. 

Matt is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
