Our Investment funds team is a cross-departmental grouping consisting of lawyers based in the UK and our Middle East offices with specialist experience in the fields of corporate, banking and finance, regulatory issues, tax, property and employment who work together to deliver an integrated and responsive solution to our clients' investment needs.
We advise a diverse client base of Gulf-based investment banks and other financial institutions, corporates, high net worth individuals and management teams on the most tax efficient and appropriate jurisdictions, structures and vehicles (whether closed-ended or open-ended body corporates, limited partnerships, mutual funds and other collective investment schemes) to use for their investment funds, acquisitions and joint ventures.
We assist our clients throughout the entire life of their investment fund project from its origination and initial structuring, tax and regulatory advice; product development; launch, marketing and distribution; fund investment and management; right up until final exit and profit repatriation. Typically, these funds invest in commercial and residential property for investment and/or development; equity securities; debt securities and other financial instruments; and Shari'ah compliant products.
As well as being in the main multi-jurisdictional, a large part of our work has a Middle East focus (often relating to investment opportunities within the region or inward investment into the UK and Europe) and is carried out in collaboration with our Islamic Finance team where we have an established and award-winning innovative track record in the corporate structuring of Shari’ah compliant leveraged acquisitions of shares and assets; establishing Shari’ah compliant offshore funds and offerings of shares in fund companies.
Our practice also covers private equity funds where we work closely with our Private Equity team.
