Emily Sharples


Emily is a Senior Associate in Trowers & Hamlins' Dispute Resolution and Litigation team. 

Emily has experience in dealing with a wide range of commercial disputes, both national and international, including high value contractual disputes, professional negligence and breach of confidence claims. She also has particular expertise in fraud and dishonesty claims, including those requiring urgent interim injunctions.

Recent experience includes:

  • Supporting in an ongoing £45 million group fraud action in the Commercial Court, including recently successful defending an application to discharge three applications to discharge worldwide freezing orders originally secured in February 2021, following a hard fought 3-day hearing in October 2022.Trial is listed for 8 weeks in 2024;
  • Acting in a £40 million contractual dispute relating to PPE during the Covid-19 pandemic;
  • Lead Associate on a claim brought against HMRC for misfeasance in public office, malicious prosecution and malicious procurement of a search warrant. Damages sought exceed £25-30 million.
  • Advising a UK charity regarding an ongoing fraud investigation against a former manager and potential claims in conspiracy involving a previous contracting third party.

Emily was recognised as a Rising Star in the 2023 Legal 500 and described as having a "strong work ethic always with an eye on pragmatism."
